A hidden treasure in the middle of Washington State, the North Cascades National Park can be accessed from the upper end of Lake Chelan. Featuring dramatic peaks and beautiful river valleys, the park is full of stunning scenery. With no roads connecting to this end of the Park, hikers can enjoy a secluded adventure – odds are you won’t encounter another soul as you enjoy the trails crisscrossing the Park.
Stehekin – the eastern gateway to the North Cascades National Park
If you are looking for the more secluded end of this national park, then Stehekin is the perfect place to start your journey. As you travel up Lake Chelan to this tiny mountain community, you will leave all the chaos of the high tech world behind.
The local NPS visitor’s center is located at the Golden West Lodge – just up the hill from the boat landing where you will be dropped off if you take one of the passenger ferries.
Buses are available to take you up-valley to trailheads.
